Wordless Wednesday: Cousins Reunited!

10 on Tuesday

Ten on Tuesday
1. It's Hurricane Season and Tropical Alex looks like it is going to hit the Gulf Coast. This is not good. I don't like hurricane season.
2. Maddie and Will are here with us this week! Jacob was about to jump out of his skin waiting to see them! The reunion was great and the kids are having a blast. I am pretty sure the Wii will get worn out in the next few days......
3. Speaking of cousins, Olivia has taken a strong admiration , ok who am I kidding, she is IN LOVE with Maddie! She follows her everywhere, had to eat next to her at the table and then threw a 2 year old tantrum when it was bedtime and Maddie wasn't going with her. Guess she is happy to have another girl to play with.....and Maddie is so sweet, who can blame her?
4. Two weeks from today we will be at the hospital for Olivia's surgery. As ready as I am for this to be over with, at the same time I am not ready for it to begin.
5. Best thing about being a teacher? Getting paid in the summer to play with your family :)
6. We will spend 4th of July weekend at MeMe's lakehouse with great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and more! Looking forward to the chaos!
7. One year ago we were in Destin, Florida. So thankful we were able to go and enjoy the emerald coast before the oil spill this year. What a tragedy.
8. This weekend I get to see my sister that I haven't seen in a year! I.CANNOT.WAIT!!!
9. Our plans while the cousins are here include swimming, playing, and more swimming.
10. If you are local and have not taken your little ones to the fountains on the waterway at night, you need to! It was a lot of fun watching the fountains dance and change colors in the dark. You won't regret it.

Great Weekend...

We had a great weekend.....one of those with not a whole lot on the agenda other than spending time together as a family. And that is exactly what we did. We went out to eat, played at night in the fountains, saw a movie and swam in the pool. But what stands out the most to me, was that I saw my children laugh, giggle and even skip down the sidewalk in pure delight. Those things make my heart sing! I love times like these and feel so very blessed that we are able to enjoy them as a family. I am one lucky gal.

Who says tutus are just for ballerinas?

Olivia has been obsessed with wearing swimsuits aka "swimsoup" this summer and wants to wear one EVERY DAY! When she saw this bathing suit in Target, she just HAD to have it! "Onna tutu swimsoup Mommy". How could I say no to that?? The other day while the older siblings were in Science Camp, we met up with some friends to try and beat the heat. It was definitely hot that day, but Olivia had fun wearing her new "tutu swimsoup" and playing with Jack.
Thanks friends for a fun time!

Surgery Dates Set

All preliminary tests from Genetics looked good. The geneticist we met with said he did not see any reason why Olivia would be at risk for surgery. They are doing testing for Pendred's syndrome and then just a chromosomal analysis, but we don't have those results back yet. If all that comes back clear, then her hip surgery dates will be set for July 13th and August 3rd. Dr. G. operates on them separately and does them 3 weeks apart. Not sure exactly how long she will be in the spica cast but we do know it will be about 3 months total. We are in the process of trying to prepare ourselves for having a immobilized 2 1/2 year old so if anyone has any suggestions, please share!!! We are also going to be moving her out of her baby bed and into a twin sized "big girl bed". Pictures of the renovated room to come soon......hopefully she will LOVE it! Thanks for keeping us and our little girl in your prayers!

VBS

Jacob spent the past week at Vacation Bible School. It was his first time to attend and he loved it! Mommy loved it too because they wore him out =) The theme was Galactic Blast and each day they had something fun for the kids to do like wear crazy hair or hats, wear your clothes backwards, wear red, etc. He was a little upset after the first day because none of his friends were in his class but I am so proud of him. He made the best of it and was able to make new friends! He came home every day talking about some of the boys in the class and the things they did together.

Most importantly, he learned about God and in his own words...."God is amazing and powerful and made everything in the universe like the sun and the rain and the stars!"

Wordless Wednesday: Closet Sleeping

10 on Tuesday

1. Lets start by saying that we are LOVING summer!!! Its only been a week and a half, but so far, so good!

2. We got to meet up a few times last week with friends to swim and the kids had a blast. It is so nice to have time to reconnect with friends and just enjoy the time together!

3. Jacob had his pictures made last week and they turned out great! You can find a sneak peek of them here. Thanks Shannon!

4. I am having a hard time getting out the door in the morning. How in the world was I able to do this 2 weeks ago by 7:00 a.m. and now I can't get anywhere by 9:00???

5. In 2 weeks we will have our cousins, Maddie and Will here. WE.CAN'T.WAIT!!!

6. Any Young & The Restless fans out there?? What in the world is David Hasselhoff doing on there now? Did I miss something?

7. Thursday we are going for our 2nd opinion with an orthopedic doctor. I doubt he will tell us anything different but will make us feel better to hear it twice......from 2 different doctors.

8. Jacob is in VBS this week so me and my little sidekick have enjoyed having some one on one time together =)

9. We bought a pool for the backyard and the kids love it! A lot of times after dinner, we will all hop in for some fun before bedtime. We have been spending a lot of time in our backyard and I like it!

10. On the hunt for a white iron bed! Found one on sale at Target last week and it sold out in 2 days! One of our summer projects is to move Olivia out of her crib and make her a "big girl room". I have an idea in my head of what I want, just having a hard time actually finding all the right pieces to make it work!

Flips

Olivia started gymnastics this week at FLIPS. Unfortunately, it was almost a FLOP! Hee Hee, I am so clever! But things didn't go quite as I had hoped. Even though some of her friends were there, Olivia got very intimidated at the start of the class and had to be held most of the time. They combine 2-3 classes together at the beginning for warm-up time and I think it was just too overwhelming for her. Plus, it was the first time I have ever left her for a class like that. I was right there, on the other side of the window where she could see me, but she was not happy.
See?

Luckily there are only 3 kids in her class and 1 of them wasn't there this week so it was 2 teachers and 2 kids. And they were really good with her and did their best to make her more comfortable. Eventually they took her over to the bars which are her FAVORITE thing! And she did this...

YEA!!! My happy girl!

Hopefully next week will go a little smoother.....!

Wordless Wednesday: Play-Doh

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Ten on Tuesday

1. Summer is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. We got our pool passes today and can't wait to use them! Unfortunately, today it has been raining and we couldn't stay to swim.
3. Tomorrow Jacob is having his 6 year old pictures made. Yes, I know he turned 6 in March, but please don't judge. Better late than never, I say. I can't wait to see how they turn out!
4. I recently started watching the show Parenthood that comes on NBC. I recorded it during the regular season but then never had time to watch it. I am really liking this show and try to sneak in time to watch while Olivia naps!
5. Last night I let the kids go crazy with Play-Doh. They absolutely loved it! And I didn't mind cleaning up the mess because it kept them happy and occupied for a good solid 30 minutes! Bonus: no one was fighting!
6. Yesterday we had Olivia's annual evaluation with ECI and she was dismissed from the program. She started when she was just 8 months old and has come so far....its amazing to see the progress she's made!!!
7. Next week Jacob is going to VBS with one of his friends. He is so excited!
8. Olivia starts FLIPS gymnastics class on Thursday and I hope she likes it.
9. In 3 weeks we get to see our cousins Maddie and Will........we can't wait!
10. Thursday is the appointment at Genetics. I have no idea what to expect and doubt we will even get results that day but praying for the best.

Soccer Season a Success!

Craig's first coaching season was a success! He really enjoyed his first time as coach and is planning on doing it again in the Fall! Jacob loved (for the most part hehe) having his Dad as his coach! He has really grown a lot since last year and finally scored two goals the last few games of the season! Here are some of the highlights from the season including our end of the year pool party yesterday!

Way to go Blue Dragons!!!!

Last Day of Kindergarten & Surgery Update

School's out and summer is officially here! Can't believe we made it! There were definitely some rough spots but we persevered and survived mommy working full time! I am very thankful to be back at home with my babies and am looking forward to no schedules, sunshine, and play time!

We found out today that Olivia's first surgery will be on October 11th. They are going to operate on the right hip first. Then we will go back on November 26th for the left hip. Although this is still so far out, I think it is going to work out for the best. This still gives us our summer and she won't have to miss out on water activities and being outside. Also, with the south Texas heat, the cooler the temps the better as far as the cast is concerned! This will also give me time to get Jacob settled in his new school and into our new routine for the Fall. We still have to get cleared with Genetics and go next week for the appointment. So, if all goes well with that then we will stay on this surgery schedule.

My baby boy is now a FIRST GRADER! I can hardly believe it! He had a great Kindergarten year and was very sad to be leaving his teacher and school today. He wants Mrs. S to be his teacher again next year!! I am just praying that we have a smooth transition to Kaufman and get another wonderful teacher again! Here are some pictures from today, his last day of Kindergarten.......sniff sniff!

Ten on Tuesday

1. IT'S THE LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 'NUF said!
2. We spent the weekend at the beach again and had a fabulous time. I am afraid the kids are going to think this is our way of life. Every other weekend at the beach......
3. Works for me!
4. Lots and lots of laundry is waiting to be washed by yours truly. See #2 above.
5. I went to get the mail this evening and I had 2 birthday surprises! I LOVE getting unexpected things in the mail.......especially when they are things I love like pictures and jewelry! Thank you friends that know me soooooo well!
6. I cannot WAIT for summer and the time with my kids! Remind me of this in a few weeks when the "newness" has worn off =)
7. Olivia's version of swimsuit...."swimsoup"
8. I want to get Jacob a big map for the wall in his room. He is always asking about where family members live (4 difft. states) and trying to piece it all together. Today on the way home, he was looking at the atlas and trying to find Galveston in relation to Houston, etc. If anyone sees any neat maps for kids, let me know!
9. I had a great birthday last week complete with dinner with the family and followed the next night by a girls night out! Thanks to everyone who helped make my birthday special....near and far! You know who you are =)
10. Hoping I get everything done in time for school to be out. LOTS to do in the next 2 1/2 days!!!!
