Gone Fishin'

Jacob has taken up a new hobby, well actually I guess its a sport.....fishing!!! Craig recently bought him a brand new pole and he couldn't wait to try it out! Here he is practicing in the back yard the night before.

They had plans to go to a pretty good fishing spot near a local lake, but Craig accidentally left his fishing license at work Friday! So they ended up back at the creek we went to on this day. Despite the fact they didn't catch anything, they still had a fabulous time!

This morning we got up and went for a Sunday drive. We ended up at the spot where they wanted to go yesterday. It looks like it is a great place to fish since it is where the river feeds into the lake. We ended up on a little hike through the muddy woods and found a small spot for him to cast out a few times.

Unfortunately, two year olds and muddy creek beds don't mix very well! We weren't able to stay very long for fear that she was going to slip in! However, she enjoyed playing in the woods too! I have a feeling the boys of the house will be gone fishin' a lot more this Spring! Which just means the girls are going shopping! And that is totally fine by me =)

Rock Stars!

The other night, Craig and the kids were having a little fun pretending to be a rock band! Jacob was playing his guitar he got for Christmas and Olivia was on the keyboard. Craig was the lead singer.....what a riot!

I am so grateful my kids have a Daddy that will get on the floor and be goofy with them =)

The Girl Scouts sang it best....

I was a Girl Scout in elementary school. One of the songs we would sing had a line that said, "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other's gold." This is SO true! My trip back home this weekend, reminded me of that!
Despite the snow in Dallas, I was able to leave on Saturday morning and made the trip without any problems.
It was incredible! It was fun! And it was refreshing. It was so nice to see old familiar faces and the feeling of being back in the town where I grew up, is like no other!
Thankfully, my sweet hubby kept the kids so I could get away without any worries! Thanks honey!
Here are some pictures from my trip......good times!

Snow Snow Go Away!

This weekend I have plans to go to Dallas. A good friend from high school is engaged and her parents are throwing her an engagement party. Tomorrow night I am going to see an old friend that used to live down the street. Can you believe we only saw each other for 30 minutes the entire year of 2009?! Saturday night I have plans to go out with great friends I haven't seen in YEARS! Some of these friends I have known since elementary school. I have been looking forward to this weekend for a LONG time! Can you tell?? I have lots of fun crammed into this little weekend. And have I mentioned that I am husband and kid free ALL weekend???

Now all that is clear.....has anyone seen the weather in Dallas today?

Yeah, its snowing. Been snowing and hasn't stopped.

All my friends on Facebook are posting "Snow Day Pictures".

In case you missed them, here ya go.....

Here's to hoping my weekend plans aren't ruined and I get to enjoy some much needed time away with friends!!!!

In Memory of Abby

Abigail "Abby" Eads

(December 27, 1997- February 1, 2010)

This post is dedicated to our sweet dog Abby.
She was my Valentine present from Craig in 1998 and our first "baby".
We picked her out together and from the moment we saw her, it was love at first sight. I had never had a dog before and I had no idea the love and bond that would form between us. She experienced many of life's adventures with us.....moves, births, deaths, travels, job changes and so much more. She was always gentle, loved to be surrounded by people and tolerated just about anything by anyone! And believe me, she was tested time and time again surviving toddler hood with two kids!
Here are a few fun tidbits I don't ever want to forget:
  • If Craig and I were in different rooms, she would lie halfway between the rooms so as to be near each of us.
  • She had huge white paws as a puppy and we were told she was part Lab. Found out as she grew, that was not true.
  • She had several nicknames including the bearded lady, Gaily, Abbs, and Geena.
  • When Jacob was a toddler he couldn't say her name so he called her "Abba".
  • If any door was left open, she would run out! She did this as a puppy and NEVER grew out of it! Just as recently as a few weeks ago, she got out and into the woods behind our house. We always had to remind our guests to not leave the door open. Not even a crack!
  • With the addition of two kids and many crumbs (food droppings) falling on the floor, she became a relentless beggar sitting on the floor or under the kids feet anytime they would eat! She never missed a meal.
  • She loved to chase squirrels and was a fast runner!
  • Her favorite food was bread.
It may seem silly to dedicate an entire post to a dog, but she was truly a part of our family and will greatly be missed.

Thank you Abby for 12 years of wonderful memories.
