Merry MUDmas!

The weather here all day was drizzly and chilly. It was the type of day where you just want to take a nap or lounge on the couch (which we all did this afternoon!) As I mentioned in my last post, Jacob had to miss his field trip earlier in the week. He ended up with strep throat and had to miss school yesterday as well. Which also meant he not only missed going to the zoo, he also missed the Kindergarten Feast and party yesterday afternoon! Once he realized this, he was upset AGAIN and the mommy guilt set in. Trying to explain to him that he would not get to wear the Indian headband and vest he had made for the feast coupled with the fact that he had missed ALL the fun at the zoo just didn't sit well.

SO......This evening most of the drizzle had subsided and we decided to venture out to The Woodlands Waterway Festival that kicks off Christmas time in our area. It was free and close to home, so we figured why not?! However, the ground was a sloppy, slushy, muddy mess! We had only been there 5 minutes or so and Jacob ran over to play in the "snow" that was blowing. It was fun for about 3o seconds until he slipped and fell at which point, he became a muddy mess.

But he didn't seem to mind...

Santa came and made his grand appearance! Unfortunately there was a ton of people and Craig and I were each holding a kid so it made it very difficult to take pictures. Here are Daddy and Olivia watching Santa.

Santa read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas to all the kids and it was really neat. Then we went over to the "snow" playground and Jacob got to play and throw snowballs. Too bad we live in south Texas and snow has to be made and brought in, but the kids didn't seem to mind. It was a big muddy snowy mess in there!

We saw the annual Lighting of the Doves

Next we watched fireworks and then got lucky to catch a second glimpse of Santa as he was passing by. Isn't he the best looking Santa or what?

Overall, despite the mud, it was a great family night!

And helped get us into the Christmas spirit! Only 34 more days!!!!
