Old Mac Donald's Farm & Pumpkin Patch

Whew! What a busy weekend! Friday I took Olivia to get her flu shot and then we went to the mall. After naps that evening Craig and I took the kids to a pumpkin patch that is just outside our neighborhood. It was HOT and most of the pumpkins were rotten (yuck!) but we still managed to have a good time. The joys of living in Texas :)

Saturday evening we were planning on making a night out of the neighborhood Fall Festival. We have been the last few years and it was great fun with music, games, candy, cake walk, etc. The kids always come in their costumes and have a blast! So, we assumed this year would be the same. Jacob got dressed in his dragon costume and we loaded the kids in the wagon to walk up to the park where the festivities were taking place. Unfortunately when we got there, we realized the festival was NOT what it had been in the past. There was hardly anybody there, no booths, no games, no candy, no music. Just a western set-up and come cowboy actors walking around. Apparently they had put on a show and we missed it. Long story short, we turned around and came back home with one very sad and disappointed little dragon. Sorry buddy! Daddy took him on a special outing to the toy store and I think all was soon forgotten! Here is a picture from the wagon ride on the way to the park (before the big let down)!

Yesterday afternoon (after the Cowboys game of course) we went to Old MacDonalds Farm. We were mainly going for the pumpkin patch but once we got there, realized they had a ton of things to do! They had all sorts of animals to pet and feed, a train ride around the farm, several playground areas and a fort! It was hot, but we had a good time. The pumpkin patch was mainly just a bunch of mini pumpkins and left a little to be desired, but there were plenty of other things to do so it was fun. It is a place I am sure we will visit again!
