How its going....

Just wanted to write a quick update on how its going. Surgery went as planned. Her muscles were a little more stiff just from being immobilized for 3 weeks so it took a little longer than the first. Also, her blood count before the surgery was slightly low so she ended up getting a blood transfusion afterwards. Her counts weren't dangerously low, but it was a precautionary measure. Thankfully, everything went well with the transfusion. Our first night was a little rough with constant interruptions. It seemed like every.single.time she would drift off, the nurses were coming in to do something or an alarm was beeping which woke her up. And the blood draw at 3:45am was NOT cool either!! A hospital is certainly not a place for peaceful rest. Our nurses have been GREAT though. We were lucky enough to have the same day and night shift nurses 2 days in a row. They have been taking really good care of us. I am most thankful for that!

We are hoping to start weaning back the epidural this afternoon. This is the first step in the process of going home. They will wean her gradually and see how she does. Hoping for a discharge tomorrow!

She will have this cast on until September 28th. Then we will come in for an outpatient procedure where they will take it off and put a new walking cast on. She will be in this cast for 4 weeks and will finally be able to walk!!! Not sure exactly what it looks like but it will just basically fit her from the hips down and have a bar between the legs.

I have been trying to take things one step at a time and feel more at peace now that the procedure is over. Of course we are anxious just to be home and in our own beds.

As always, thank you for the prayers and support. It truly does mean the world to us and helps to get us through. Keep Jacob in your thoughts as well. He is my sensitive little guy and all of this is taking a toll on him as well.

Thank you friends and family.

Just saying HI! I have some sensitive guys too, so I understand the dynamics there. Glad to hear things are going pretty well for Livvy though--hoping you can get home to those beds soon though!
